What does having an Online Coach mean?

Maybe you’ve heard about online coaching in the past but never really understood what the point was, or couldn’t see the benefits of having an online coach…well let me tell you!

Being an online coach myself there have only been small periods of time when I haven’t had an online coach to help me with my training. I’ve always found that it makes me accountable to someone to make sure I get the workouts in on a weekly basis. It’s someone who will check up on my training and see how I’m getting on. Not only that, they’ve tailored my programme to fit around MY lifestyle, MY preferences and MY goals.

Having someone do the hard work for you is always a good thing isn’t it?! With my work being pretty hectic and all over the place to say the least, being able to walk into the gym and not have to think about what I’m doing is the best! I just load my programme up on my phone and off I go, simple! After a 12 hour shift the last thing I want to be thinking of is what exercises and reps and weight I should be lifting.

I’ve always had a coach for myself

One thing that I always say to people when they ask me ‘why do you have a coach?’ when I could just programme it myself, is that I know, I’ll pick the exercises I like and enjoy, not necessarily the ones that are going to help me improve. Forcing yourself out of your comfort zone is the only way you are going to progress wouldn’t you agree? Having an online coach pushes you to make those uncomfortable changes.

Over the time of having online coaching I have definitely improved in so many areas. Strength has gone up for sure, but mainly my technique has improved. Of course, you have to build the confidence to film your lifts, but once you are over that stage, filming your movements is so important for feedback and for you to see yourself where you think you are going wrong. Being able to send your coach clips of your workout as you are working out to get instant feedback to improve just as if your coach is there with you! My confidence is one thing I’ve noticed. Not just in the gym but in general life too! It’s amazing what exercise can do to a person.

Having that other opinion from a professional about where improvements can be made, or adjustments or even just advice about nutrition or sleep. Just because you think it’s good, someone else from a different perspective might be able to pick up on something you hadn’t noticed or even thought about!

I love face to face personal training, but being a shift worker that unfortunately isn’t always possible with my work not being the same on a weekly basis. So, I’ve turned to online coaching to be able to help those people from all background and skill levels. It’s something that I’m hugely passionate about and I just want to help as many people as I can to gain confidence and strength.
