Need a snack? Find out my top go-to healthy nibbles!

I love to have the option throughout the day to snack. It keeps the grumbling stomach at bay and keeps my mind focused on tasks rather than thinking constantly about food. I tend to stick with 1 snack in the afternoon and sometimes I’ll have a snack in the evening too, depending on how I feel. So, I thought I would share with you guys what my fave snacks are!

They are all super simple and easy to make/buy. No fancy recipes because we don’t always have time! But, they are all nutritious, full of goodness and there are alternatives too, so everyone’s a winner.

I’m a self-confessed peanut butter addict

Alrighty gang! Number one on my list is probably my favourite of all…fruit and peanut butter. I’m a self-confessed peanut butter addict, I literally have it every day. But there is something about banana and peanut butter which is just heavenly. I understand not everyone likes bananas, so you can always opt for apple and peanut butter, which, by the way, is a great pre-workout snack as it’s got carbs, fat and a little protein!

Speaking of protein, a smoothie is a great afternoon snack. If you find it hard to get your fruit and veggies in during the day, this is an easy way to make sure you are keeping all those vital vitamins and minerals in your diet. Just blend all your veggies together, add a scoop of protein, or natural sources of protein like nuts, seeds, almond milk etc, and you can drink this on the go. Especially handy for all you busy professionals who are on the go throughout the day and might not have time to sit and eat something!

Batch cooking is a lifesaver!

Something easy to prep and you can batch cook at the beginning of the week are boiled eggs. Batch cooking is a lifesaver! Having meals already prepped will make your life so much easier the next day. If you can prepare meals for 3 days that’s you sorted. It might sound boring but you can mix up your carb source or change the veggies in your meal. But, boiled eggs are something you can cook, leave in the fridge and just peel when you are ready to eat them. Take 2 to work and your afternoon snack to keep you feeling full is there ready and waiting for you.

If you are like me and enjoy the sweeter things in life, you might enjoy some yoghurt topped with fruit and seeds. Personally, I have the total fage 0% yoghurt with cinnamon, chia seeds and agave nectar. It’s probably my second favourite as I enjoy yoghurt and it has a sweet flavour! It’s great for calories (depending on what you top it with) and the topping choices are completely down to you as an individual. You could even use this option as more of a meal. Add some oats in there and chopped nuts, it can really fill you up depending on what you add!

The most underrated snack of all time!

The last thing might sound like a cop-out, but I’m going to share it with you anyways! Shredded Wheat. Probably the most underrated snack/breakkie of all time. You don’t have to make it, you just buy it and throw it in a bowl to enjoy! Again you can top it with whatever you like!! I’m pretty basic and just have it with milk and agave nectar instead of sugar because I’m all about that sweetness in life. Fruit, seeds, whatever you like, you make it however you enjoy it. Such a simple thing to add to your shopping list every other week or so.

That’s it my lovelies! My top 5 snacks for you to try and chose your faves from! Let me know which ones you like by commenting below, I’d love to know! Also, let me know if you have any favourites that I haven’t mentioned, I’m always up for trying new things.
