Eating Abroad…

Being in an all inclusive hotel can be hard. I’ve found this out the last few weeks. Being surrounded by such a variety of different foods, it can be difficult to resist the deliciousness of different flavours. Every night there is a wide variety of themed cuisine, including desserts, which you guys know i am a huge fan of! You end up with a million random things landed on your plate, just eating things for the sake of it; after all, you’ve ‘paid’ for it right?!

However, this is not the mentality to go with. Now, let me just say this before i go any further. I’m not saying watch what you eat or count your macros. All i’m saying is be mindful of what you eat and how hungry you actually are. You want to enjoy your holiday but not feel guilty afterwards. When wandering around that glorious buffet, try and just stick with one style of cuisine. Weather that’s Italian, Japenese or English. You want to try everything, but don’t forget it usually very similar on most evenings so you’ll get the chance don’t you worry. Don’t be scared to try new things. This is the perfect place to do so. If you don’t like something, you can go up and try again. Simples! When loading your plate try and split it into 3 categories, this is where the personal trainer steps in, protein, carbs and fats. So for breakfast, if you follow me on instagram you will already know (if you don’t go follow me @vikkiaxellfit), i’ve been having scrambled egg, mushrooms and yoghurt with muesli. Lunch, i seem to go for a beef burger, salad and greek sauce. Dinner changes depending on how hungry i am feeling and what there is to offer. I won’t lie, i’ve been having desserts. Lots of them. I JUST LOVE DESSERT. It’s my favourite part of a meal. The desserts here are just amazingly scrummy bits of heaven, i get excited and end up with about 5 mini desserts. Yes, 5. I know i sound like a hypocrite for saying be mindful of what you eat but from now i am going to change that, after all i am here for another 5 months!!

Just want to say too, i am loving greek food! I’ve tried a few different things now and i do enjoy it all, but i think that’s just because i’m a huge foodie! Have any of you been to Greece? Can anyone recommend any good dishes i need to give a go? I have a half day tomorrow so will explore the local town and try something you guys recommend! Also! Will try and get my next blog post to be a beach workout, with a youtube video too, so watch this space!! Happy Wednesday!

We recently stayed in an all inclusive (well I say recently, back in February) all my hard work was undone. I didn’t over fill my plate, did similar to your advise, but had extra bread on the side and the booze!! Oh the booze was probably my downfall. I agree with the food being similar most nights and to be picky choosing what you actually eat.

I love Greek food! I spend so much of my time training and eating the foods that are needed to fuel that training I don’t worry too much when I’m on holiday (or out for dinner!) because I figure my nutritional intake is pretty balanced the rest of the time!
